From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, demons, and dark forces increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season are included.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of characters who will separate from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and fled to a secure base in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, desires revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the team enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor swore a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that control the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to form the Questers and Schemers parties.
Fans can expect finding out which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
